Why should I use Hometune?

We are Mobile Mechanics/Technicians 7 days a week! Our qualified Mobile Technicians can take the hassle out of having your car serviced by coming to you anywhere in Auckland, work, home school or sports club. Hometune has been in business for over 28 years and is MTA assured. We have 15 Mobile Mechanics/Technicians including 4 Auto Electricians and a Transmission Flush Service Technician. We cover the Auckland area from Whangaparoa to Waiuku. We also have a workshop based in Mt Eden.

Can Hometune carry out repairs or do you only do Tune Ups?

Hometune carry’s out ALL repairs/services Auto Electrical work, Transmission Services, WOF there is nothing we can not do.

Do you have Diagnostic Tools/ Scan tools that plug into the cars computer?

Yes, we have Bosch, Hanatech, Launch, Carman & specialist Scan tools for certain makes.

Can you do a Warrant of Fitness?

We have a workshop at 101 Mt Eden Rd, where you can complete your WOF for $29. We also have a mobile service which includes taking your car for a WOF

Does Hometune have Auto Electricians?

We have 4 experienced Auto Electricians within the Auckland Region, they specialise in all electrical repairs.

Do you have Technicians that specialize in European Cars?

Hometune only employees the highest caliber technicians, all our technicians specialise in ALL European vehicles, services & repairs.

How often should I change my oil?

Every 6 months or 5000kms which ever comes first. If it isn’t changed regularly the contaminants in the oil will cause it to thicken & become less effective. Putting off a service is false economy, our oil & filter service starts from $99

When should I change my cambelt?

If the manufacturer does not give a replacement interval we recommend between 60,000-100,000kms or if the car is 8 years old. To avoid trouble replace your Cambelt before it breaks. Call us for an estimate.

How often should I service my car?

This depends on the make & model, most cars should be serviced every 6 months or 10,000kms which ever comes first.

Why do I need to service my car?

By carrying out regular servicing your cars life span greatly increases and the risk of having a break down is reduced significantly.

What happens if you ignore regular services?

The results are not pretty

Are your Technicians fully qualified?

We only employ the highest caliber Mechanics/Technicians. All our Mobile Mechanics/Technicians are fully qualified with Trade Certificate Automotive Engineering. Only qualified experienced mechanics will work on your vehicle. We also have ongoing training in place.

Does Hometune carry parts in the vans?

We carry a range of most parts or stocked locally at distribution networks.

Do you work Weekends?

Yes, Hometune is open 7 Days a week.

What are your operating hours?

We are open from 7am – 6pm Monday to Friday, Saturday 7am to 5pm, Sunday 8am to 5pm.

How soon can a technician come to me?

We can usually organise same or next day bookings. You can book online, email info@hometune.co.nz or call 630 3000 to arrange a time. The earlier you call or email the better.

What happens if my car needs extra work?

We inform you about the work required before proceeding & any additional service that your car may require. It is our responsibility to advise you of where your car is at.

What is a Transmission Service?

Transmission Flush Service safely powers away virtually all dirty fluid & contaminants, helping extend the life of your transmission & avoiding costly repairs or replacement. This service is recommended every 40,000kms.

How do I pay?

Payment is required on completion of the job. We accept cash eftpos & all major credit cards including American Express, Diners and Farmers Card.

What information do I need when making a booking?

Hometune can look up most information required about your car by you supplying your number plate.

Why should I service my car?

A thorough service check to ensure safety of your vehicle.
Engine oil changed regularly, is the most important element in ensuring long engine life.
Local Government actively recommends vehicles be tuned regularly to reduce emissions and pollution.
Smoking vehicles are unpleasant and do risk fines.
Worn brake pads are not only dangerous, they can cause further costly damage.
Engine coolant must be changed to prevent corrosion of your engine.
Cambelts if not changed can snap and cause major engine damage.
Worn spark plugs can cause expensive electrical problems.
Brake fluid has a limited life and it can become dramatically less effective after this.
